Joyful Bride - Customised bridal bouquet with candle wreaths and hairband - Customer request from Sheridan
Light in your heart – sunflowers in your hand! We were honoured to provide the floral decorations for Sheridan's wedding. Sunflowers and lavender were to take centre stage. A perfect combination of complementary colours for maximum contrast and eye-catching appeal. Sunflowers are also a great choice for a summer wedding, as they symbolise happiness, loyalty and a bright future, among other things. What better way to start a happy marriage? The bridal bouquet was accompanied by four candle wreaths and a matching hairband. Shop the look!
Design tip: Recreating this look is no easy task and is only recommended for experienced florists.
Bridal bouquet: Start by cutting the individual branches into smaller pieces by dividing them at the forks. Some leaves will now be too low on the stem and need to be removed. The stems are then shortened to about one and a half hand widths and wrapped with ribbon, with the flowers and leaves starting above the ribbon. With the delphinium, individual rows of flowers are removed from the lower section to reduce the length and create a small, compact bouquet. The delphinium and wheat form the centre of the bouquet, followed by a chrysanthemum branch and two daisy branches, which are arranged evenly. Now it's time for the star of the bouquet, the sunflowers, with a lavender flower between each one. Finally, the eucalyptus is added. We wrapped the stems with a jute ribbon with lace and then trimmed the stems to the same length about 2 cm below the ribbon.
Four candle wreaths: Ready-made rosaries were used for this. We removed the roses and trimmed the stems a little narrower in preparation for re-decorating, so that the new flowers can be attached more easily. We already have some delphinium flowers left over from the bouquet, followed by sunflowers, lavender, chrysanthemums and daisy flowers. We remove all of them from the stems and start sticking them in with the sunflowers, then fill in the gaps with the other flowers, alternating colours. Most of the flowers stay in place on their own, but the rest were fixed with hot glue.
Hairband: First, you will need two white decorative ribbons (different widths) about 1.5 m long. Find the centre point and attach the narrower decorative ribbon to the wide decorative ribbon with a hot glue gun, about 25 cm in each direction. Reinforce the underside of the ribbon with white paper wire, which is also attached with the hot glue gun. For a nice finish and a comfortable fit, cover the paper wire with wide decorative ribbon. About 10 cm of paper wire should still be visible on each side. Now use the flowers and leaves that are not needed from the bouquet and wreaths. You will also need a new chrysanthemum branch and a decorative basket branch. Cut the eucalyptus leaves into smaller pieces, removing the plastic stem from the underside of the leaves. Cut the decorative basket with its large round petals into a sunflower shape by simply cutting the petals into a pointed shape and colouring the pistil with a black pen. The chrysanthemum and daisy flowers consist of several overlapping rings of petals. Remove the largest rings at the bottom to make the flower smaller. You can glue the flower back together with the hot glue gun. Now everything is ready. The ribbon can now be glued to the eucalyptus leaves. Next, decide on the order in which you want the flowers to appear. Start with the middle flower and then alternate between adding another flower to the right and then to the left. Allow everything to dry thoroughly.
